The press lined up and the crowds gathered to see Joe Satriani at this year’s Musik Messe in Frankfurt. Joe took to the stage on the Vox stand to give a show stopping in-depth Q&A session on his range of Vox guitar effect pedals.
Everyone at Vox is extremely proud and honoured to be working with Joe and the effect range now boasts the Time Machine and Big Bad Wah to compliment the already highly successful Satchurator distortion pedal. Since its launch early last year, the Satchurator has received much acclaim and a string of hit reviews. This all culminated at the 10th annual MIPA awards held at Messe where it won the prize for Best Guitar Effects.
The ceremony was attended by over 300 people from international music & audio manufacturers/distributors and Vox also received the award for Best Guitar Head for the Night Train. The MIPA awards are a truly international accolade with over 100 magazines from around the world compiling a list of nominees in over 40 categories, from which the final winners are chosen.
It was the icing-on-the-cake for Vox to have Joe and the award trophy together on the Messe stand. Joe then went on to hold a captive audience for over 45 mins, enlightening everyone on the design philosophy behind the pedal range and how he uses them on stage and in the studio. He also mentioned how he made extensive use of them while recording the new Chickenfoot album, a collaboration with Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony (both of Van Halen fame) and Chad Smith (drums, Red Hot Chili Peppers). Chickenfoot will be touring the UK/Europe in June & July 2009.
