JamVox 3 is a HUGE disappointment

New to jamvox so thake this for what its worth. My only complaint is all the presets are just GAINED out the @$$. I have the hardest time just finding the tone of my actual guitaqr, and after that I feel as if I have lost some of the preset's "mojo".

Ex: I load s-r-v and first reaction is... he never ever plaid with this much distortion, let me tweak it so that my single coil can be heard... twist here and there... can’t find the "edge of break up" let me try another setting... OH GOD IT"S STARTS ALL OVER. Gain Gain Gain... what about tone? If I could get that I would love all the other features. How in the he77 can you tell the difference between amps if the gain is maxed on them all… what the ___ is all the “pre-amp gain” settings for? This setting is not on any of these amps in real life.

Lost in a sea of distortion and longing for tone….

I wish there was a simple way to save an effects preset (normally simply called a preset) in the stand-alone and the VST. As it is now, I don't think there is a way to save a effects preset in the VST version... is this because I'm running the demo?

" is this because I'm running the demo? "

After initial wow factor from cool new look I too am disappointed. In my opinion 3.0 not as intuitive as previous version. The program crashes every time I try to load an mp4 file. Takes a while to load a song and then there is lag time in the audio. I constantly need to go to folder to find songs. I didn't have these issues with previous version. I will be going back to previous version and wait for a fix to 3.0 from VOX...hopefully??

I am pleased with the JVIII upgrade. The user interface is easier to operate. I went straight from 1.52 to 3.0, so I can't compare it to version 2.01.

Finally i have tested JamVox III at my Notebook:
CONS
- Pops & Clicks when wifi card is being used. ( performance bar does not solve the problem, only deactivating wifi connection does the trick as a workaround )
- Poor Quality at video recording.
- No Mixer.
- Can not record guitar only ( without a song loaded ).
- Can not record from mic only.
- Drums play/stop ...just awful.
- more complex GUI, things are not so accesible.
- Loading a song...it takes too much time, just rendering the wave form...
- Library administration ? May i go up and down through folders everytime ? 1.52 version library administration was so easy in comparation to this new one.
- Full screen ?? I see stomp boxes cut...can not resize ?
- Crash when importing from iTunes.
- All libraries where lost.

PROS
- Recording via USB goes ok using 1.52 driver ( must upgrade FROM 1.52 ) , this is not a "pro", cause it worked really well at 1.52

(*) If you upgrade from 2.0.1 then same problem with processed audio not comming throug USB driver...

So, seeing pros and cons I really consider staying at 1.52....forever, or until III gets a wash up.

I would not pay 99$ for this....neither 49$

at least yours works....my opens the program then windows dialog comes up and says jamvox stopped working.. ...I cant remember the last time it worked right. I tried reinstalling and reupdating and nothing...same problem. have you ever wondered why they dropped it to half price? 100 to 50 bucks....LOL ...epic failure! keep the posts coming fellas.

The guitar sound wouldn't even register on JamVox, but I did unplug, then plug back in the USB, and it worked......

I too am a bit miffed about not being able to just press "RECORD" and have at it......I love the concept of the JamVox, and up until I loaded v3.0, I'd thought they were really dialing it in......I wish I woulda read this BB before I upgraded.....

@valve - I feel some of your pain but I'm new to JV3. I do own and use GR5Pro, AT3, GTR, and others. I tested JV III for about two weeks and find that it works nearly flawlessly for me (win XP home SP3, core2duo dell). Most of the problems I thought I had were DEU (defective end user) related! I finally poped for the promo price and I'm having a blast with JV III. I use almost every function as I'll usually play for about two hours at a go. If the track is out of tune, I'll tune the track. If I can't seem to sus out a Charlie Parker lick, I'll loop it and slow it down 'till I get it. If a guitar part is too difficult to hear in the mix, I'll use the GXT function to extract the part. If I just want to jam, I'll load a music minus track and jam. If I want to practice scales or drill, I'll use the metronome.... you get the idea.

I'm completely ticked off also, and joining the "will not purchase vox or korg" group.....

I wasted too much time making v1.52 slightly useable, and thought this v3 may be a fix, but turned out to be NOT AN UPDATE, but an instant DELETE tool of all my work for several years.

I AM PISSED OFF!!

Vox put v3 up with no warnings as to the damage it will do to MY WORK EFFORTS with the earlier versions, which I can safely call a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PROGRAM.

V3 looks like they stole a portion of AUDACITY, but no controls.

The image mapping is way off the mark, the little guitar icon for the riff player, you need to go 2/3 of the way past the drop down arrow for selecting a riff or it just turns the player on or off. The guitar icon is supposed to be the on/off button, that sucks, the dam buttons so tiny and close, you can't hardly pick what you want with all the miss-alignment.

I guess that goes along with the audio, I play an instrument, it's sound level is so low now, I can barely hear it, and it has a LAG of a fourth to a half second depending on what else may be loaded in the program even if it's not turned on.

That alone makes it totally UNUSABLE.

Music is reliant on timing, this delay is for drunks and dope addicts who can't tell when one note ends or the next note starts......

As for i-Tunes, no thanks, "I" never use anything with "i" starting it's name. Never will.

Smack-N-Toss has never been anything good. JamVox seems to be written by smack users (puns intended for GOOD REASONS).

Audacity is FREE, I can jam along with any song in REAL TIME on that, and not need to buy any additional equipment for my computer'S, yes I have many.

I have a ToneLab too, but I am getting tired of the sounds I configure at home and then go and set up on stage and they are no where near the same.

I Think I found one consistancy of Vox, and that is "InConsistancy".

I cannot find anything to recover to the way I had v1.52. I did however set up a restore point, but that won't help the way VOX implemented this v3 release.

Sorry guys, but your on the junk list now and forever because of the ongoing problems and lack of corrections.

Any luck with the issue of crashing when attempting to choose a song from itunes or Mpeg4audio file?

The more you use it the more you like it. I eliminated my amp and jus play through the JamVox now. It does what it says.

Hey. Where'd all the complainers go from earlier in this thread? If they bailed, it's their loss. I am thankful for the continued support of JamVox software by VOX. The latest version 3.03 is great!! It took a while to get used to the new look, but overall I really like this. The driver works outside of JamVox and that is a big benefit too.

I finally made the jump from 1.52 to 3.03 - and I like it. I've been using JamVox 1.5 for 4.5 years - very happily. Absolutely nothing else like it. Here's what I'd like to see added to JamVox III:
- Add a window for a list of JamSets. Make it the same window as the guitar program list, just another tab.
- when I go to open a JamSet, it should open the dialog window at the last folder - why do I need to navigate thru Music\VOX\JamVOX\Jam Set each time?
- Remember the Driver and Device - I have to set these each time I open JV.
