Well, after having a few days to play this new Series 55-SDC Double Cutaway I have some observations:
It is very light, looks like an SG but nowhere near the overall heavyness.
I hated the strings so put a set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky on... .09
Setup from factory had lots of buzz on anything below 5th fret (with either strings).
Intonation was very good, even after chngng strings to lighter.
Neck was very slow.
I bought my girlfriend a BC Rich Bronze Warlock for like $200.00 US about 5 years ago and pulled that out to compare. Hands down, the Rich was much nicer to play. Felt better overall. I won't even toss in that I have a LP and an American Strat. No Comparison at all.. This thing is made in Korea. It feels like it and all the guys here posting otherwise are probably VOX Employees. Nuff said there.
Sustain is awesome, lasts for days.
I didn't feel a lot of difference in the switches like was touted all over the place. Yes I could get a sudo Humbucker sound, and a sudo P90, but not the same as the real thing.
The fit and finish left a little to be desired.
I have a few pieces of I don't know what but black specs under the clear coat that show pretty good.
The Nut has a sharp edge that I need to file when I get around to it.
Frets all stick out a little too much for me and I catch the edges on my hand as I slid from say 2nd fret to 14th or so.
Action was not set up right from factory. Mine busses all over below 5th fret on most strings.
Was showing it to my girlfriend and demoing how to fret it without using your thumb and the neck is so sensitive to warpage it was bending with no real pressure.
The pickups where extremely quiet, I'll give them that.
My overall opinion
Save your money and buy elsewhere.
