Generally speaking, this usually refers to each knob being set at half-way ('12-Noon' as the clock goes). But it's a complete misnomer with the Valvetronix amps.

This is because Vox designed the EQ to work as it does on the 'real amp' - and on some models, the EQ is interactive (ie treble and mids might work together and directly respond with each other).

In addition, where the basic amp had simpler controls (eg Fender small tweed had a single tone control) Vox enhanced the tonal control by utilising all the other on-board controls eg giving bass, mids & presence all a roll to play when tweaking tone.

Some information is available in the manuals explaining the EQ of certain amp models. I would recommend all Valvetronix users read these helpful notes to better understand how the EQ works differently with some of the models.
