Tube Preamp as DI with Tonelab SE and LE?

I am thinking about getting a Tube Preamp- Something like the ART V3 to use with both a SE and a LE Has anyone done this to increase warmth and tone, and most importantly did it work and was there a terrible hiss (before I invest ((or waste)) my money).... I use both my SE and LE Live weekly plugged directly into snake>PA board..... both at different venues (churches) so I dont have to transport equip... I just dont want to throw a wrench and screw up my tone while attaining a bad squeal or hiss....
