Just to show how lucky all you younger players are today with the fabulous features of a Valvetronix , this was my very first guitar amp - a Triumph Leo 7w with a 12" eliptical speaker. I had one of these in 1972 albeit the cloth was silver grey. Look at the price (at the bottom) then, & compare that to a VT15 now & what you get for your money.... & what I got for mine!!

Hard to believe that these practice amps are now highly collectible, simply because they were all-valve - even though they were considered pretty 'basic & ordinary' in their day! No way to distort the amp save cranking it. I used to crank the amp & put it face down on my bed to get a distortion! Had to be resourceful in them days! lol

Funny how things go full circle though, with manufacturers now going back to making low wattage all-valve amps just like this eg the AC4, and that today if I still had the Leo, it would be considered a great home practice amp.

I hear ya Rich. My first real amp was a Crate CR1. I thought it looked so cool back then in 1978. The night I purchased it, I went directly to jam with my friends... and blew the speaker. That is when I learned the valuable lesson that a 10 watt amp can't compete with a drummer, especially if you just brought it in from the below freezing cold outdoors.

For those who have never seen a 1978 Crate CR1, here is a link:
