Does anybody know a good amp combination for the tonelab le? I need something that pretty much only runs clean since the le obviously has all the amp and cab models and effects programed into it already. Thanks

The easy answer is "any amp with an FX loop". Plug your TLLE into the FX return (as in guitar>TLLE>FX return) and you're good. This will bypass the preamp circuit on the amp. I run mine into an Egnater Rebel 30 combo with delirious results.

Yeah i have to agree i have just recently started to plug my Tonelab SE into the FX return of my AC 30 and with a bit of tweaking and changing the Tonelabs output to line i are enjoying what i hear

Rojo, that just doesn't seem fair! Bet it sounds sweet, though. I really want and AC30, but the thought of lugging the 75# behemoth just doesn't appeal to me.

i'm new to this approach. I am using the ST. i've tried it with several combinations. my favorite is running through the return of the fx loop on my Mesa Boogie Rectoverb. it sounds pretty awesome!
the problem is, though it provides many sounds I can't get, it doesn't quite match my amps tone. when I run through the return, I can no longer use the preamp of my amp. i'm thinking of getting a powered monitor or cheap amp with an fx loop and an AB switch to use them both. I don't have a lot of spare cash, any thoughts or suggestions on this?

Parmatele it does sound sweet and i also have a Pod X3 Live that i plug into the rear of the amp and with a lot of tweaking it sounds just as good if not better than the Tonelab in some respects and yes the AC30 is heavy to lug around but the result in the end are worth it
I did read some where that the Roland jazz chorus amps make a great amp for pedal boards.
I guess you have to try a few out and see what works for you ,
it has taken me twenty + years to get a sound i like but thats just me

GET a ZT Lunchbox or ZT Club, I am running 2 ZT lunchboxes in stereo with my LE and it kicks ass, and its grunty as hell. check them out..

I think that pretty much any 'straight' amp will work well with the TLLE. My only cautionary note would be that a modelling amp is probably not the best fit simply because amp models may 'clash' giving you a less clear tone with possibly more noise.
Whether its best in or out of an FX loop is probably down to the type of FX loop, personal preference & experimenting - you may find the tone for certain effects/models sound better in the loop, but you might also prefer other combinations 'direct' in front of the amp. So far, I think I prefer my TLST in front, but I think that both my Marshall Valvestate 8080 & Laney VC30-210 have a parallel loop rather than series, so I probably need to try it through an amp with a serial loop for comparison.

I got a great sound through a Roland keyboard amp. You just need to make sure you've got enough overhead volume. I've been dying to try the tonelab out with the Tech 21 Power Engine. I tried another modeling pedal with that years ago, and it was fantastic. More recently, I'll just plug into any tube amp that's onhand (I'm surrounded by a lot of guitarists). There's a lot of variation there, but it's fun to react the differences. One thing I was surprised about is that with the tube amps, simply having higher wattage was not always to my benefit for a clean sound.

I think it's up to you to choose wich manner sounds better for you;
You've got three often used ways to do that:
1/ Plug the guitar in the LE, and the LE output into the guitar imput of the amp (check the amp/line output of the LE to choose amp value)
2/ Plug the guitar in the LE, and the LE output into the "return" socket of your amp loop (choose the "Line" ouptut setting for the LE)
3/ Plug the Guitar in the amp, The LE input into the "Send" socket of the amp, and the LE output in the "Return" of the amp loop. (may have to deactivate LE's amp sim).
Your ears and feel will decide ...^^
Note : You've got other ways to plug the LE, like the C4 one, combining the loop of the amp and the loop of the LE to use the preamp of your amp like a looped effect plugged into the LE.
(It's a variation on the 2/ method, where you just have to add a cable between the "send" of the LE and the amp "guitar input", and then a cable between the "send" of the amp and the "return" of the LE).
But I would try first the three ways described above.

Ok, i try by that three ways and write you again later... Salute you from Santa Fe, Argentina. Long live rock n'roll!!!
