There is no "best" pedal. So much depends on personal taste. My setup: a Vox Cooltron Over The Top Boost and an AC15CC1. I use the pedal as a poor man's 2nd channel (clean on the AC15 and add whatever overdrive I want with the pedal). Or I use the pedal as a clean boost with tone controls (turn the Volume up on the amp to get overdrive and then use mainly Volume on the pedal with a little Gain). Same effect as a treble booster, but with more control over the tone. The Tone Cut on the pedal can be used to get rid of "hiss" way at the top end ... "hiss" that's typical of a treble booster. What sounds great to me, you may not like. Follow your own instincts.
Skinpimp MKIII will get you everywhere you need to go, and in-between....
So I'm on a search for a Bluesy OD. I've never really taken to the TS9 but am interested in the Fulldrive 2 Mosfet rendition of this classic. I'm wondering though if a Keeley BD-2 is a better option for me though. I'm more in to 60s/70s blues (Buddy Guy, Cream, Hendrix, later on SRV). For Fuzzed out stuff I'm in to the Black Keys / Stripes. I've got that somewhat covered with a Maestro MFZ and Big Muff and in the near future MKII clone. So I'm good there but I wouldn't mind having an OD that can double as a cleanish boost. Any good choices out there for me? OCD isn't doing it at all and I hate the cheap Marshallish sound.
lank81, there is a song that Dan Auerbach plays called The Prowl, I got really close to his guitar tone on the record using a fuzz factory and a semi hollow with p-90's into the top boost channel of a vox ac30 cc2x.
The keeley java boost sounds amazing with the ac30.
