I am thinking of adding a amp selector to switch between my AD100VTH and my AC100CPH heads. There are some effects on the VTH I really like, and would like to be able to switch between easily. Has anyone any experience with the Tonebone products, specifically the TS?

Absolutely. Good quality stuff. You might also check out Lehle. The also make some nice amp selectors.

Bueller. . . . Bueller!

The Tonebone has a speaker pre-load for the tube amp and allows switching between a tube and SS amp. Have read there is no popping and the switch is pretty instantaneous. Was hoping someone out there in Vox land would have some experience with these units. Maybe one of the other units?

You see, I have the AD100VTH and can't bring myself to sell it. I thought about adding another cabinet, but that's pretty impractical. Also, there are so many Vox cabinets out there, hard to know what speakers are in which cabinet, and what wattage they handle, but that's another unanswered thread. Seems like the selector would be a good add on!

These boxes cost $250, could get a few effect peddles for that. I'm talking to myself. . . this is like carrying on a conversation with the misses!

So I just finish my rant and hit post and here's "vox_brad_usa" to the rescue! Will check out the Lehle selectors then.

Just got off the phone with Dana B Goods, distributor for Lehle. I explained I wanted to switch one instrument between 2 amps, using the same speaker. The rep was friendly but knew nothing about speaker per-load on a tube amp, basically the Little Dual is recommended as an A/B switch. I asked if there was someone else I could speak to that would know about the pre-load, and there wasn't?

So, either Tonebone makes too much about the tube to SS, or Lehle hasn't thought threw the process.

i got a startouch ST2 pedal from Tony Choster to switch channels on my AC30CCH, no pops, no crackals, & best of all no tone lost, you can email him at startouchb1 or call him direct at (503) 588-7728 & you if dont get him right away he will call you back and he is willing to anwer any questions you have, a really cool & freindly guy.
Pedals are hand built by him and i paid $115.00 us for my, but is a 2 to 3 week wait, but worth every penny, cheaper than the Lehle & i read reviews that Lehle dont like distortion pedals, which turned me off cause i use a vox fuzz with mine.
good luck bro hope you find whats right for you & your rig.

I got an email from Dana Teague at Dana B Goods company concerning switching between tube and SS amps:

This question has come up before. Your concerns are well placed. Here's links to a couple of products which I think can do what you seek.

http://www.tonebone.com/tb-headbone-vt.htm
https://taweber.powweb.com/store/2head.htm

I am impressed that he would take the time to respond to my email and very impressed that he would refer me to other vendors who manufacture the product I need.

Peter Janis and Mark Gummer at Radial are both good guys. If you have questions you could call and ask either of them. The numbers are on the contact section of the Radial site. Its professional quality gear so i would expect nothing but the best from those guys.

Brad, thanks for the info, I'm going with the Tonebone TS. They obviously put a lot of thought into sharing a speaker and protecting the tube side. Can still use the effects loop and an attenuator can be in the speaker line out for use on both amps.

I bought a Tonebone TS off eBay ($99 +shipping used) and got it set up this morning. Had to run out and buy some cables. Read the manual, re-read the manual, hooked up the cables, checked them 3 times then fired up the AD100VTH and got sound. Checked the cables again (didn't want to blow an amp), turned on the AC100CPH and got sound! NICE! NICE! NICE!

The Tonebone works as described, allows switching between a SS and Tube amp while using one speaker cabinet. Got the pedals set up, now need to spend some time testing and balancing.

One more thing, there are no pops, noises, sound degradation or volume change when switching between amps, just one tone to another.

Very impressive box!
