When was this amp discontinued, and are there plans for new amps coming up?

Welcome to the club, man. Congrats!!! You won't be sorry. You just bought two amps for the price of one. Someone else on the board said "These will be highly sought after in a few years" and I hardily agree. I'll bet you got it pretty cheap as all the online places have'm at huge discounts, now. What will you be plugging it in to?

I noticed on the sight that Vox has a new line coming out, is this what's driving the prices down, or just being discontinued doing it? I was looking at a Marshall JCM900 and tried a few (wasn't overly excited about channel 2), but couldn't get a good price, and ran into a lot of issues with used, guys changing tubes and re-biasing among other things.

Found a link on line that compared a Buger 1990 to a JCM and that started me looking for a Bugera. Then I found links about all the failings of the Bugera amps, and gave up that search.

Still searching for a 2 channel solution, found a video link to an AC and couldn't believe my ears, sparkeling cleans with a usable overdrive, started searching for the AC. Picked the AC up new for $450, great amp, great price, perfect timing for me!

I have a 412BK cabinet that I've been playing an AD100VTH through, should (I hope) handle the AC nicely. The BK is a closed back, not certain what speakers, but never had a complaint with the AD.

I also own a Fender Cybertwin, it's the first release with some software updates, still running the original tube in the pre-amp. The Twin does many of the old Fenders pretty well and I do like the sound of some, so it's a keeper!

Playing all Schecter!

That's a killer deal. I got a scratch and dent special for 430. I honestly thought I'd never have a Vox because of price. I jumped on the deal when I saw it even though it's gonna take awhile to pay it off. Totally worth it. Started sportin wood the minute I plugged in.
Is this your first all tube amp?

One thing I forgot to mention, your amp head will prolly take a pretty good beating in shipping. It's double boxed so it'll be pretty. But, it's 60lbs and cumbersome. The drivers have a hard time moving it around. If it's not sounding/ performing perfect out of the box, UNPLUG IT from the wall, remove the back and make sure the tubes are all seated properly. I had this problem.
You might want to research some new overdrive boxes, as well.(seeing as how it's your first all tube amp). The difference between an overdrive pedal and a distortion pedal are vast. What kind of distorted sounds do you like?

I read something about the shipping and checking the tubes, seems I also ran across something about Vox leaving the tubes out when shipping from the plant? Thought this was on one of the AC30 discussions. I play mainly classic rock, so the distortion will be somewhat minimal. That's one of the things I didn't like about the Marshall's, distortion was pure 80's, and way over the top for me. I think I'll like the Vox channel 2!

I watched so many video's and have been reading reviews on this amp and seems like I picked up that you the master volume is basically an attenuator, is this correct? Makes sense it would cut the output level, but does it actually cut the wattage?

No. Just the output volume. I think you'll like both channels. They are very different and ch2 does not sound eighties at all. But, I know what you mean about the jcm's. You can easily cop a nice Paul Kossoff ala Free tone out of ch2. Ch1 with an overdrive in front let's me get a Keef at Altamont tone that I just love. But, I mostly play cleaner tones and use both single coils and humbuckers. It's great with everything. I'm still searching out my perfect combination.
