Hi, i'm thinking in what improvements could be done for next revision :

- Better Song Library administration ( older versions were so much accesible and useful )
- Recover older "mixer" section, with separate functions for "recording with" or "without" at all three channels ( song/drum - guitar - mic ) , something similar as it was at previous versions.
- Better video recording quality and with parameter setup form ( codec selection, resoultion, etc )
- Better performance at response when loading songs ( it takes too much time rendering the waveform )
- No need to create an "empty file" for alone guitar/mic recording

.... put your wishes below ....

Hi everybody,

I have this terrible problem when conecting the Tonelab EX via USB to the computer... It´s supposed that when conecting the TLEX via USB the sound card doesn´t intervene, so the TL acts as a sound card itself, with its own driver, that can be downloaded here... so what´s the problem? I have a terrible latency and I you can´t configure the driver to manage this issue... Any idea?

Thanks!

I use the jamvox GXT only when I cant find backing tracks for songs. There are alot of good non midi files on this site. http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/ Most come from Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I found some cool ones for Iron Maiden on youtube like this one http://www.youtube.com/user/FilipUNIBO/videos?sort=dd&view=0&page=1 and if your looking for the guitar only try typing "isolated guitar track" on youtube. I have many files that I use with Jamvox so I hope you enjoy or share what sites you goto for backing tracks.... Thanks and Rock On

Hello!

I just got my Vox AC30cc2, and I liked the way it sounded with my Boss Gt-8 connected to the amp's front input, but I wanted to try the 4CM... i tried it, liked it, but in the end I find it more versatile to use the front imput of the amp and model the sound with the GT-8. Well, but that's not the issue, the problem appeared after i unplugged everything and went back to the front input and started to hear this humming/hissing coming out from the amp (i started to worry), so i disconected everything again, went only with my guitar to the fron input and start over, but the noise wouldn't go away... so again, i disconected everything, let everything cool down for an hour or so and again turned everithing back on, when the power switch is on there is no noise, but when i turn on the stand by switch at the beginning there is no noise, but when it loads up, the noise increases until it reaches and stable level depending on the volume level.
I checked the Top Boost channel and it is even worse, the hissing is even louder and when I run it with overdrive the amp lost it's particular tone and the sound with any OD/DS it's just horrible...
I did some tests with the GT-8 and the noise goes away when I put down all the volume with the volume pedal, it simply disappears. My main question is, Could it be that with the 4CM i could've damaged the input or something in the amp? Or can it just be a Valve that went dead and that's why I cannot get definition on the output sound?

Any helpful comment will be very appreciated!
Regards!

Hi all,

Not sure how far I'll get with this one but here goes.

I'm trying to find out what the output chip is in this amp. The designation is IC3 and I know it's a Class D type but the markings on it bear no relevance to anything. I've contacted various IC manufactures and none can identify it so far?

As there are no schematics available, and highly unlikely to be any time soon, I'm a bit stuck. There are so many of this type of device available so a pointer would be good.

Any offers?
Many thanks
Bob

I have this also posted in another thread but i really think it should be posted here with it's own topic,Improved Tone From Your VT20+.

Here is how i improved the tone of my VT20+. I permanently mounted the 3.5 circle from the back of tablet cardboard,i then glued two pieces of black emery boards to the back of the cardboard cutout, read below for further details.

I used two 3/4'' x 6-3/4" emery boards and then cut off 2-1/8" from each emery board,i glued the two cut pieces to the back of the 3.5" cutout with tight bond wood glue(let set for at least an hour before installing beam blocker),i then mounted the beam blocker in the front speaker cutout and put the emery boards under the front speaker grill cloth with two small pieces of duct tape to hold it in place better.

I did not go into detail about removing the backboard and speaker from my VT20+ but that is kind of self explanatory.

I would suggest everyone with a VT20+ and even the VT40+ try my beam blocker modification because i played my VT20+ today at louder volumes and it sounded great and just much better sounding then it did before without the beam blocker.

The high end fizz is gone now and my amp is smoother and sounds more tube like then it did before,it also sounds like i changed the speaker but with better tone then the original speaker because of the high end fizz that it had before,it sounds like a more expensive amp now!

If you do not want to do a permanent installation now just use scotch tape to the back of a 3.5" or smaller cardboard cutout and temporary put it on the front center of your speaker grill.

I almost forgot to mention that i also glued black felt to the front of the 3.5" cardboard,i used a glue stick,do not use elmer's glue or wood glue for the felt because the glue may soak through the felt.

Since a few days I am a proud owner of the brand new AC4C1. - Great little beast!
Yes, a real top boost tone at 4 watts maximum! Great job, VOX!

Normally it is played through a VOX V112NT cab. The greenback offers the typical growling it is famous for. Yummy!
But even the internal 10" speaker (still in the run in period) sounds fine. Less bass, more but a nice rough vintage tone.

Now I have two questions:

1. As far as I can say the hum of the amp is really noticeable at higher volumes. Is this normal for a top boost amp?

2. Not using massive distortion I am Interested in tube rolling. More clean headroom would be perfect! The original tubes are:
V1: 12AX7
V2: 12AX7
V3: EL84

Is it possible to "tame" the gain of the amp a bit by exchanging V1/ V2's tubes? (Why does the other AC4s have just one preamp tube and this one has got two?!)
What happens if I combine different tubes, e.g. V1= 12AX7 and V2= 12AT7 or vice versa? (Of course the EL84 stays in V3.)
I can imagine one ore two 12AU7 tubes in V1/ V2 for pure and loud clean tone, but I do not want to destroy the amp.

Every suggestion is welcome!

Does jamvox even work on windows 7 64bit? It worked fine on my 32bit laptop but since getting this new 64bit one it just doesn't work. It opens fine but ANY audio that comes from it is just pops, not just pops every so often the WHOLE clip of audio playing is just pops whether that's a live guitar feed or a recorded track. Does anyone know any fixes for this? Thanks.

My goodness, there's a lot to learn in the TLLE - and whilst it has its own quirks (e.g. annoyingly, it seems to have no global tap tempo - you have to set the 'Control' button to do different things in each patch), overall this is one heck of an MFX pedal from a features/parameter control perspective.

Yesterday I only plugged in 'direct' in front of my Laney Cub at very low volume and very quickly went through the presets (usual hit & miss - most are there just to exaggerate features).

Today, after reading through the manual (which I'd mostly done in prep before getting it) I wanted to see what this puppy could do and create a tone from scratch. There are two very good amp models that I like to start with, to really see what gear can do - the Marshall JTM45 (UK blues) and its original inspiration, the classic Fender Bassman 4x10.

The Bassman has a really complex tone - it should give you that classic 'growl' on the bass notes with a brighter top end. It should be very touch sensitive going from a rich jazzy clean tone when played lightly, to a fierce 'growl' with that wonderful Bassman break-up when you dig in. So I selected my 1989 US Fender Telecaster, plugged into my all-valve Laney Cub 12R, and started off by connecting the TLLE 'direct' in front of the amp (not using any FX loop).

There are 5 global 'Amp/Line' positions - Amp1/2/3 are for connecting 'straight' into an amps guitar input. Line 1/2 are for going through a mixing desk/PA or through the 'FX return' of an amp. So, as not everyone has an FX loop, I started off by setting the Amp/Line to Amp1. I selected the Bassman model (leaving the 4x10 cab emulation on), a little bit of spring reverb, and started to strum.

To say I was disappointed was an understatement. The amp model sounded dull, flat, & lifeless. I couldn't get very much 'drive' from the model, and none of the 'complex' amp tones were there - no bottom end growl, no brighter top-end. It sounded 'yuk'. I tried amp 2 and amp 3 - still yuk. I tried Line 1 - too tinny and brittle.

But the secret in getting great tone from the TLLE direct into my Cub was Line 2 - which has adjustable EQ bands. Just like plugging an EQ into the FX loop of my Valvetronix, the TLLE came to life - I tweaked the EQ until I found the settings I liked (once set, these apply to all patches globally) and there was the lovely Bassman growl and brighter top-end, with bags of drive if I raised the 'gain' knob. Once set, the EQ settings worked well with every other amp model too.

Then I plugged into the Cub's FX return (using it just as a power-amp) - & it instantly sounded great with Line 1 and even better with my tweaked Line 2 EQ settings, but both were a little darker - so if you're using your amp in this way, you need to tweak the Line 2 EQ accordingly.

The quality of modeling and effects is superb, and set this way sounds every bit as good as the 'newer' modeling in my TLST. I bought the TLLE with the intention of being a gigging back-up. But you know what? ....it's so darned good I think I'm going to try it is as my main 'rig' through the PA, & take my TLST as a back-up....and save schlapping big heavy amps.

I headed this thread with the SE in brackets, because I think exactly the same will apply. The point of this thread is that if you have a combo or head with no FX loop, and aren't happy with your tone set to Amp1/2/3, then try the Line 2/EQ - set the EQ correctly, & it will transform the TLLE so much, even the 40 factory pre-sets will sound darned good!
(well most of them anyway).

And if you have an FX loop, try plugging into the FX return & selecting Line 1 & Line 2 (for me, Line 2 is best, because I can tweak the EQ to taste). And the Line 2 EQ (before anyone asks) is NOT the same as the normal bass/mids/treble EQ knobs on the Tonelab.

I haven't yet tried the TLLE fully in the Cub's FX loop (ie with send/return connections) but I'll try that next weekend. The disadvantage of just using the FX return is that you lose all amp controls (including volume). But I'll see how that compares next weekend or even during the week if I have time.

Hello

A quick question about my VT50. I've noticed when i turn on the amp lately. I have to fiddle with the input in order for the amp to produce reasonable volume. When I first got the amp everything worked fine the amp was fairly loud. I'd power it on and start playing right away. Now when the amp turns on the volume is way low. So I'd end up turning up the master volume to it get louder but the sound quality would sound "fuzzy" and "muffled".

At first I thought it was my cable going bad. But the same cable works fine in my solid state amp with no issues. Tried same cable with a different guitar no problems with my other amp. But in order for my VT50 to work. I have to keep inserting and pulling out the guitar cable til it corrects itself. Then it functions normally no problem. But this is usually a five minute process. Has anyone else experienced this type of problem before? I've had the amp for about three years. Who knows how long the amp was on the sales floor though because it was a demo unit.

Is it a bad tube perhaps? Or maybe the tube needs to warm up a bit first? Or is my input jack about to die?

Thanks

I have recently acquired an AD50VT along with the standard 2 switch Vox footswitch. My question is this...is there a way to add LED's to the switch so that I can at a glance know where I am at regarding my saved settings?

Thanks!!!
