brawnze on "learning to use the VT30 with a visual impairment."

Heya folks. I've been playing acoustic guitar for years, but finally decided to invest in an amp for my newly aquired Les Paul. From all the reviews I've read on the net, it sounds like I made a good decision when choosing the vt30... I couldn't find one bad review.

The problem is that I am totally blind, and am having trouble figuring out which button/knob does what... and how to switch between the different modes etc etc. All of the manuals and guides I have found online tell me to hit a certain button until the light is a certain color... not to mention setting the knobs to a certain setting. I'm so stumped!

If someone could describe to me which knob/button does what, and where each setting is located on the amp, I would be extremely appreciative. Descriptive phrases like "the far left knob" or "the button second from the left" etc etc would help out immensely. From my explorations, this is how I would describe the control configuration.

On the far left of the top panel there are two jacks of some sort, a smaller jack presumably an earphone jack nearest to me when facing the amp, and a larger jack directly behind the first.

Just to the right of the two jacks are a button and a knob. The knob clicks when turned, and appears to have eleven different settings and so I assume that this is the amp model selecter, as I believe there to be twenty two different models to choose from. In front of the knob is a button of some sort, and what feels like a light between the button and the knob.

There are then two buttons with their accompanying lights to the right of the supposed amp selecter knob. In fact, it would appear that there is a light behind every button on the amp. There are then eight free turning knobs along the back of the amp in a row from left to right. In front of the first four of these is a set of 5 buttons from left to right. To the right of this set of buttons is a knob which can be set to ten different settings, a button to the right of this, a free turning knob to the right of the button, and another button to the right of this knob. And on the far right we have the on/off switch.

On the upper-back of the unit we have a free turning knob, a large jack which I assume to be for the foot-pedal, and the power cord input.

That is everything I can feel anyway, there may be more controls that aren't so obvious.

Please help if you can, I'd love to start jamming on this baby ASAP.:)

Thanks a lot

Brawny

I've got a VT30, which I love, but want to add a few pedals, in particular a delay.
I've thought about getting a multi-effects pedal like the Digitech RP255, but am not sure how well it will work with the Vox.
I would plan to shut off the modeling effects on the Digitech - using it for the delay/echo, reverb, EQ and might use the looper a bit.
Will this work or am I better off getting dedicated pedals?

Note: this is for a practice setup, not looking to gig.
Thanks!

Just noticed this existed....seems like a slightly more able VT.....but:

1. Can't see it for sale anywhere in the uk.

2. Great that has all these stomps and amp models...but why still only 8 user memories....

3. Extra stomps etc but still only the same foot controller

4. A built in tuner....but only on the amp.....

Can't figure out the logic these guys are working too....

Anyone tried one of these?

HI all,

I got a used AC30 CC2X recently and I was wondering if there should be any noticeable change in sound when switching back and forth between 82Ω and 50Ω in the Output Bias and between 22 and 44uƒ in the Smoothing controls.

Basically, I can't hear any difference and I'm wondering if they work at all on this amp.

I have the AC4TVH and matching V112TV cabinet. And first of all I'd like to say that I am in love with this amplifier. It sounds beautiful. I'm having only one very small issue with it, but I thought I'd ask about it to see if it's normal. My apologies if this question has been covered somewhere before, I haven't been able to find an answer.

The amp is outputting a reasonably quiet low frequency hum. The hum always seems to be there. With the volume all the way down, with or without an instrument plugged in, it's still there. Turning the volume up or turning the tone knob does not have any impact on the hum. I've also read about lights or other electronics causing noise like this, but I've tried many different locations through the house and that hasn't had an effect.

The only thing that changes the volume of the hum is the attenuator knob. It is barely audible at 1/4W, noticeable at 1W up close, and I can hear it rather clearly anywhere in the room at the 4W setting.

So I guess my question is this: is this normal for this amplifier? Does anyone else have a decent hum at the 4W setting with the volume off? Does anyone have one that's dead quiet? It wouldn't bother me so much if it's normal, just like to know if things are right or not.

And one other question, is it possible that a hum like this could be caused by the tubes? I've been doing some reading and a few people have said that swapping out the 12AX7 preamp tube for a different brand has reduced the hum in their AC4, but they didn't specify if it was the typical hum or noise at higher volumes, or the kind of hum I'm experiencing with the volume at 0 and no instrument plugged in. I'd be very happy if a different preamp tube could potentially reduce or eliminate the noise. I don't have one on hand currently to try and I am a little reluctant to open it up.

Thank you very much. And I have to say again that I am very pleased with this amplifier, I would definitely recommend it. I'd just like to fix this particular issue if it's possible in any way.

I feel kind of stupid knowing anything about volume pedals and how exactly they operate, but if anyone can run me through this, it would be much appreciated

I have a real simple set up with my VT 50 and loving all my tones, but I just need a little boost for solos at this point and am hoping that maybe just a volume pedal will do the trick.

So Vox have introduced another 15(!) new products. Great stuff, but still no new Tonelab. Although I don't count 15 products yet so who knows there may still be something up their sleeves.

In all fairness I don't think another Tonelab is top priority for Vox nowadays. They seem to focus on amps more than anything; the Tonelabs have gone from big (SE) to medium (LE) to small (ST) - perhaps we've seen the last Tonelab.

I know this has cropped up in various threads over time but given that some UK retailers are now saying the LE has been discontinued there is a great market opportunity for Vox here. I would like to see a sophisticated floor-based unit that responds to the needs of the gigging guitarist, but could also be used for studio recording. I do both. The Boss GT10 and Zoom G92tt have been out for years. Digitech's RP 500 and 1000 seem to have given up on attempting comprehensive amp modelling by presenting themselves as sophisticated stompboxes for use with good amps. Please Vox produce a unit that:
1) Has more amp models - Vox's amp modelling leads the field
2) Separates out drive (e.g. Tubescreamer type units) and compression from the Wah. This is essential
3) Has two amp channels on each patch, which are directly accessible, and ideally with individual effects combinations for each.
4)Allows "stompbox" mode within a patch without having to come out of it everytime a patch needs changing.
5)A single expression pedal is fine, but necessary. It needs to be feasible to allocate more than one parameter to it.
6)A good quality intelligent harmonizer would be nice. Most competitor units have one.
7)Clean models need to be louder and the Fender Twin model shouldn't break up so early in its gain stage. Real ones don't!
8)A post Eq section is necessary
9)A visual indication of current settings on the unit is helpful. (Don't lose software based editors as well though!)
10)XLR, USB etc outs seem to be necessary.

I'm basing my comments on the use of a Tonelab SE over many years. Vox still leads the way in amp modelling by miles. But other things are needed on a new unit to really capture a good market share of the mult-fx unit market.
This would have to retail at, ideally, £300 maximum.
Vox - please please please make it happen, for your sake and mine!

So, I tried the VOX VT100 today, took it for a little test drive, and I liked what I heard!

However, a major selling point is the real-time control of effects + channel switching in combination with a foot controller. I've read about the types of foot controllers, the VSF5 and so forth, but does VOX have any plans of releasing a VC12 type footswitch with wah/volume capability and on/off effects options?

I've read a few different posts via the search, where the VSF5 is the only switch that works with the VT series, but that there's an update VC12 footswitch that wasn't released? I tried to find "buy options" via google, but to avail.

This is kind of deal breaker!

Would it be something as simple as knackered power tubes?
