Hey Guys I did have the AC30HH Head and I sold it big mistake and now
I have a Fender 40th Anniversary Twin Reverb its ok but it does not have
the sound of an AC30. I want to sell the Fender and go back to Vox and
I was looking at an AC30CC2 its a good Amp but It has the Master Volume
and I don't want an amp that has that. Now the Heritage Collection AC30
Combo is what I like and as far as speakers go they can always be changed
out. Playing a G&L Asat Classic thru the Vox really sounds good to me now
others may not like the sound which is fine. For me the best sound that I
ever got was a Rickenbacker Guitar thru a Vox AC30. My goal is to get that
sound again and to do that I have to start with a Vox AC30 Heritage Collection.

Experimenting is half of the fun !!! For the chime the blues are dammed good, there is a slight difference between the UK Blues and the Chinese blues, however this difference would only be noticed in a back to back comparison. Either speaker sounds great.

Welcome to VOXLAND, sorta like graceland, only LOUDER :)

thanks for all the info!! I got the amp the other day and I'm pretty psyched with it. I'll try some of those suggestions. I want to try jumping the channels too. I might end up getting the matching cab with the alnico blues in it, the 75 watt speakers I have don't seem to "chime" as much. Anyway, lots of experimenting to do!

I really like the greenbacks as well, very warm sounding speaker, the GT75's are a bit more of a scoopy speaker, not as much mids, sound great with the brighter marshalls and should sound awesome with the more middy Vox.

Pretty much any speaker cab will "work" as long as the impedence is correct. I like the 2x12's simply for portability. You can even get them closed or semi open back. The closed back gives a bit more thump and tend to project forward, and the open backs give a wider spread and more lower mids to the sound.

If you are a single guitarist in a band the closed back's projection sounds great but you tend to get lost in the mix. Someone standing right in front of you will hear nothing but guitar, but 6 feet to the side it will become very quiet. Beem blockers help this. However the open back cabs tend to sound wider sue to the sound comming from the back of the speaker and bouncing off the walls etc.

2 Guitar players I suggest closed back, single guitarist open back. Just depends on what sound you like. Don't be afraid to try different setups, that is half the fun !!

P.S Speakers make MUCH more difference to the tone of the amp than changing valves etc !!!

The Marshall cab would be great, especially if it is loaded with Vintage 30s or 25 watt Greenbacks. If you have the 300 watt cab with the 75 watt speakers, you can run that cab full range, or you can use just one side of the cab, this would probably be more efficient if you are looking for a quicker breakup, as you will only be hitting 2 75 watt speakers. Experiment, just remember to match the ohms between the head and the cabinet. Marshall 1960 Lead cabs have a pretty good marking on the back, where the jacks are, in terms of the ohms, and switching from a mono to stereo selection. I believe you can use half the cab at 8 ohms, but check on your Marshall, and its configuration on the back of the cab.
