The speakers in the AD60/120VTX combos were a custom made version for Vox of the Neodymium 60w Celestion G12 Century Vintage speakers, which were called 'Neodogs'. The Vox Celestion 'Neodogs' differ from the stock Century Vintage by having a slightly flatter response curve (better suited to modeling) and with an enhanced 80w rating. I don't know the sensitivity but I think this was still 98dB (however, if any techy has measured this and knows differently, please do chip in!).

Celestion still make the 60w G12 Century Vintage (98dB). The 102dB G12 Century (80w) was much more expensive but is no longer made, although it can still be found as new-old-stock. AFAIK, Vox no longer has any stocks of the original 80w 'Neodog' used in the AD60/120VTX amps.

If you look on youtube.com there is a comparison of all the major Celestion and Eminence speakers by their sounds. Check them out and maybe you can find what you are looking for.

Paulo, you can swap out the speakers as long as the Ohms are the same. The Vintage 30's will sound good depending on what type of music your playing. From my experience, the V30's are voiced more for a rock and heavy metal sound. That being said I have heard them in a couple of country venues and they had a pretty great sound their also. The Vox 412bk came with Vox original (GSH 12 in., 8 ohm, 30 watt) speakers.

Hi
I know there's a lot of posts about this kind of problem but I couldn't find one specifically similar to mine.
The left one buzzes but the right speaker cuts out completely so the amp sounds weak and whimpy. I cleaned all the switches with Servisol 10 and both problems persist.
The right speaker seems to be a loose connection somewhere as jiggling the amp around (read: giving it a swift boot) can get it back on. So the speaker 'works' but there's no rhyme or reason (I can see) to it's actually making a sound.
Ive pushed the connections to both speakers down but that didn't help. I've opened it up to see if there was anything visibly wrong with the open circuitry with it to no avail.
Also tried the amp reset. No joy there either
I also really can't afford to send it to be repaired (I'm a student). Has anyone else had this problem?
Cheers
Morgan

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you getting for them? I'm thinking about replacing the stock ones in my amps. I believe one may be going bad but I could sell the other three and recoup some of my stew.

Cheers,

I heard the Celestion G12 Century (80 W, 102 db, 8 ohms) was discontinued, but I managed to find a pair for a good price, the last two this shop had new in the box. Now, MF in the US has them listed as being in stock. These are not the Vintage but the real Century speakers! Not sure what's going on here but: Get 'em while ya can!

I am looking to sell mine and the potential buyer was asking me if they were the original speakers. Does anyone know what the speaker says on it if it is original? Thanks so much!!
