Hi Andyman,
have you tried to spray your plug-in sockets with electrical spray? voxman has a posted how to do that & what kind of spray u should use, just would have to look to find it, might work might not but would be worth the try, at least for the reverb, as far as the gain button you could open up the amp (unplugged) to see if you have a wire off, replaceing the switch if it's bad should'nt cost too much ( could even try spraying that, might just be dirty contacts inside) & you would enjoy the full use out of your amp, just my 2 cents, guess if you opened it up you could also check the wires & solder job on you reverb socket, might just need to re-flow the solder. no telling what you'll find might just be any easy fix .
best of luck to ya bro

Thanks jerrybg,
It's really great to hear from you. Very confirming, too. I ended up buying 2 vfs2 footswitches and they seem to work fine for everything but the gain boost, whether I've got the panel button in or out. Oh well, I bought the amp used, sometimes the reverb cuts out on its own, too. Maybe something is fried! It still sounds most beautiful, so I think I'll buy an overdrive pedal and try things out this way. Best wishes to you.

Hi Andyman,
sold my Cambridge alittle while back to pen_and_ink so dont have it to look at or the manual anymore but the VFS2 is the pedal u need to do your switching, is'nt there a boost button on top of the control panel ? it needs to be push in ( i think) in order for the gain boost to work. have u tried the the VFS2 in the other input jack to see if it will switch the channels & tremolo (on/off) ? really need 2 VFS2 to get the most use out of the Cambridge, which u have to buy on your own, be nice if vox would have set the amp up w/one foot switch that had 4 buttons to stomp on to do everything it needs to do to get the most out of the amp. hope u get it worked out. if i can answer any other questions about it will be more than happy to, good luck bro.

Does anybody know if the VFS2 footswitch really can control the gain boost from the rear plug-in for the ext. foot switch on the Cambridge 30 reverb? I get reverb control with my VFS2 switch but it doesn't seem to work the gain boost which would be most excellent!

HI jerrybg
You need a two button footswitch for each input. Vox make their VFS-2 footswitch, but other makes will probably be OK too if you can't find one.
