VOX: What model AC30 is it that you use?
Mike: It’s a Custom Classic AC30 with AlNiCo Blue speakers.
VOX: What do you think of it?
Mike: I’ve used it for every gig the past three years, usually with no added pedals or effects, and I love it. It has a punchy, crisp sound that dirties up nicely when I need it too.
VOX: Is it worth the extra cash for the AlNiCo Blues?
Mike: I think so. They add a certain clarity and help my guitar cut more. If you’re going to get an AC30, you might as well go all out and make sure it sounds as good as it possibly can.
VOX: So you say you use no pedals or effects?
Mike: Well, with 2 inputs, a low and high drive, reverb, tremelo and cut built right into the amp, I can usually find the sounds I need without any outside help. It’s quite versatile.
VOX: What are the Alternate Routes up to?
Mike: Check www.thealternateroutes.com for all the latest updates. We are going to be on the road pretty consistently for the next year, so any place you might live, we’ll be playing there soon.
